Sophomore Katherine Yost (Norcross) of the Georgia College Women’s Cross Country team is the Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25.
Yost shined at the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships last Saturday in Dahlonega, finishing 16th of the 97 runners in the field.
The sophomore, competing in only her second race of the season, finished the 6K in 23:42, just three seconds off the mark from All-PBC status.
The 16th place finish is the highest finish from a Bobcat at the PBC Championships since Taylor Roeck finished 15th in 2012.
Yost’s 6K time at the PBC Championships is a personal record for the sophomore since joining the Bobcats from Division I University of Mississippi.
The Bobcat women placed eighth out of 12 teams at the meet with Yost leading the way. Yost and the Bobcats will continue their season Nov. 7 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Wingate, North Carolina.
