Today at the Children’s Industrial Home in Macon, GA, the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association held their conference meet. This also doubled as the NJCAA Region 17 regional meet.
The men’s race started in perfect October weather for running. Nathan Dukes of South Georgia State College was 1st over the 8k course with a time of 27:42. Four of his teammates secured spots 2,3,4,and 6 for a total of 16 points and the team Championship.
Central Georgia Technical College was paced by Eddie Stafford who finished in 5th place with a time of 29:46. CGTC finished 2nd overall.
On the women’s race Oxford College of Emery University dominated the race with 4 or the top 8 spots. As a club team they were not able to count for scoring in the conference championship. They were led by Heather Beavers who ran the 5k course in 22.05.
CGTC had the fasted individual runner for the GCAA with Shambria Smith who had a time of 23:53.
The team title was won by South Georgia State College.
The Georgia Military College women’s team finished their team season today.
The Lady Bulldogs were led today by Carrie Kirkwood who ran a PR in the most important meet of the season. She was followed by Jacqueline Jones. Jassmine Stevens and Sam McLeod also set PR’s today. Ashleigh Floody was the other runner today and she also ran a PR. The ladies worked so hard this year and were rewarded with a 2nd place finishing in the GCAA Conference race. They also placed 1st in the NJCAA Region 17 Division III standings.
The Lady Bulldogs will be sending two runners to compete in the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships in Stanley Park just outside of Westfield, MA. Nina Skinner and Jacqueline Jones will represent the school well.
